Choose Options > Item Details: Field Order to control the order in which the fields are shown in the Item Details display. This brings up a dialog, Specify field order for Item Details: Change the order of fields by one of the following methods:

• Select one or more items in the list and use the "˄" or "˅" buttons to move the selected items up or down, one position at a time.
• Select one or more items in the list and use the mouse to drag the items up or down. Drop them at the position where you want the selected items to be moved.

Normally all fields (except those which are empty) are displayed in the Item Details tab. However, there is an option available that limits the displayed fields to just those that are shown in the List tab. To request this, select Options > Limit Item Details to Only Fields Shown in List from Recollector's menu. This is a toggle menu item, and when selected the Item Details display includes only those fields that are included in the List tab, and uses the same field order as used in the List tab.

An example of when this might be useful is when running a slide show. You might want to produce a slide show that just shows your collection's images. To get this effect, you could set the List tab to display just your image field (or fields, if you have more than one). (Consider using a Field Profile to easily switch to a different List tab set of field choices.) Switch to the Item Details tab, turn on the Limit Item Details to Only Fields Shown in List menu toggle, and start the slide show (Options > Start Slide Show). Your collection's images, with no other data, will then be shown, one after another, according to the slide show timing (settable from the Recollector Preferences dialog).

• Font size - Pick Small Font, Medium Font or Large Font from the Options menu. Note that font size also affects text size in the List tab and in the data-entry and data-editing windows.
• Text font - You can change the font family used in the Item Details by selecting Recollector > Preferences from Recollector's menu, choosing the Item Details tab in the Preferences dialog, and then clicking the Change font button. Pick a font from the panel that is displayed. (Only the font family is selected; size and typeface are ignored.)
• Hide the field name for image fields - If a field's name is parenthesized, for example: "(Images)", the field name will be omitted in the Item Details display. This applies to any field whose name is parenthesized, but, in general, this only makes sense for image fields, since images are usually self-explanatory and don't need a field name to help identify them.
• Center the display of image thumbnails - If an image field has its name hidden (as described, immediately above, by having its name parenthesized), you can request that the thumbnail images for that field be centered in the display, rather than left-aligned. This often produces an aesthetically more pleasing display. To request image centering, select Recollector > Preferences from Recollector's menu, choose the Item Details tab in the Preferences dialog, and turn on the Center thumbnails (when field label is not displayed) checkbox.
• Control thumbnail size - Select Recollector > Preferences from Recollector's menu, choose the Images tab, and enter maximum sizes (in points) for the width and height of thumbnails. Recollector will generate thumbnails that don't exceed either of these limits. (Depending upon the shape of the image, the thumbnail may be considerably less than the specified maximum in one of the two dimensions.)
• Suppress thumbnail images - Normally images are displayed as thumbnails. If, for any reason, you wish to suppress the thumbnail display and want to see, instead, the image filename displayed as text, you can request this from the Images tab of the Recollector Preferences dialog.
• Control formatting of currency values - Normally whole-number currency values are displayed without a decimal point or fractional part. However, if you wish to see all currency values displayed with a two-digit fractional part (for example, 123 displayed as 123.00), you can do this through a preference. Select Recollector > Preferences from Recollector's menu, choose the Item Details tab in the Preferences dialog, and turn on the Always include two-digit fractional part for currency values checkbox. This preference also affects the display of currency values in the List view and the Image Gallery view, as well as in printed reports and generated web pages.
• PC-style layout - The layout of the Item Details page is normally as shown in the example found earlier on this page. Each field begins with a field name, immediately followed by the value. Text that doesn't fit on one line wraps to subsequent lines, with a small indent. This layout differs a bit from the layout shown on the PC/Windows version of Recollector. There the contents of all fields are aligned with a constant offset from the left-hand margin, an offset equivalent to the longest field label. The appearance is more tabular in the PC version (a table with labels in the first column and values in the second column). If you prefer the PC-style layout, select Recollector > Preferences from Recollector's menu, choose the Item Details tab in the Preferences dialog, and turn on the PC-style layout (field names and values aligned in a tabular format) checkbox.
