About Recollector

This Help document describes version 1.7.14 of Recollector for the Mac.

Recollector™ is a Macintosh application for organizing personal collections. Collections of any kind can be cataloged and maintained, flexibly and easily. Recollector is aimed at serious collectors, as it lets the user decide exactly what kinds of information to record about the items in each collection. Images, audio and video clips, in addition to richly formatted text information can be included in a collection's data records.

Recollector uses Apple's document-based architecture: Each collection is a document, and you can create (and have open simultaneously) as many collections as you want. You use Recollector to create, edit, display and report on collection "documents."

System requirements:

Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later

An older version of the software, with most - but not all - of the program's features, is available for Macs that are running OS X 10.7 (Lion) or 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

Related software:

A version of Recollector for the MS/Windows operating system is also available. Collections created on the Mac version of Recollector can be transferred to and used on the MS/Windows version, and vice versa.

The Recollector App is a smart-phone app that serves as a viewer for collections created and maintained with the Mac (or PC) version of Recollector. Versions of the Recollector App are available for the iPhone (runs also on the iPod touch), the iPad, and for Android phones and tablets. Recollector includes the ability to generate the download file that you transfer to your smartphone or tablet, for viewing using the Recollector App.
